When I was little I remember my mom throwing me a “teddy bear tea party.” Instead of tea- who likes tea when they’re 6 years old- we had lemonade. Every kid likes lemonade. I can remember thinking to myself how much I would like to make my own fresh lemonade by squeezing real lemons into water, adding some sugar, and drinking it up ’til the last drop.
As I got older, I grew more lazy. Squeezing lemons into water was too much work when you could just buy some Tropicana lemonade at the grocery store. This is the key: it was too much work. That’s how people view lemons in their life. It’s just too much work to squeeze them into lemonade! Sometimes, you just want the lemonade to already be there- made and at your disposal. Sometimes, you just want someone else to squeeze the lemons. I understand this. We all get tired, exhausted, and it’s not hard to do in this day and age. My generation will start getting gray hairs and wrinkles far before our mothers and grandmothers did. Our stressors are big, small, in between, and plague us 24/7. But we have to overcome them.
We have to stop being lazy! We need to get back to squeezing. We need to squeeze the lemons, add the sugar, and take a big gulp of our hard work- lemonade.
